The GEEKOM A6 just hit its lowest price since July, and now costs less than the slower A5

The GEEKOM A6 dropped to A$719.20 on Amazon AU on 29 September, the cheapest we have seen it in 74 daily checks since 13 July. It spent 50 of those days at A$849, and the only other day it came close was A$729 on 13 July. The same morning, GEEKOM's flagship A9 Max fell to A$2,119.20 after 21 straight days at A$2,399.

There is a second, odder result hiding in that drop. The A6 is now A$49.80 cheaper than GEEKOM's own A5, which has sat at A$769 every day since we added it on 23 September. The A6 is the faster, better-connected machine of the two. Here is the A6's run in full. A$729 on 13 July, then A$849 for a fortnight, A$899 from 28 July, A$749 for 12 days from 4 August, a brief return to A$899, and back to A$849 from 18 August until 28 September. Then A$719.20. Every one of the 72 days before this drop was dearer than today.

What you get for that: an eight-core Ryzen 7 6800H, 16GB of DDR5 you can take to 96GB, a 1TB PCIe SSD, two USB4 ports and output to four 4K screens. The chip is a generation old and its Radeon 680M is for light games, not a gaming PC replacement. For office work, a home server or a second desk, it is plenty.

The A$719.20 figure is exactly 80% of the A$899 it charged in late July, and the A9 Max dropped on the same morning. Two GEEKOM machines moving on one day looks like a GEEKOM-wide promotion rather than a permanent cut. We cannot see when it ends, so if the A6 was already on your list, this is the week to act rather than wait.

Why the A6 now beats the A5 on price as well as spec

Normally the A5 is the cheaper, quieter GEEKOM. Its Ryzen 7 7730U is a 15-watt chip that TechRadar found cool and quiet, and that is the one thing it still does better. On everything else the A6 is ahead: DDR5 instead of DDR4, a 1TB drive instead of 512GB, PCIe 4.0 instead of 3.0, and USB4 where the A5 has none. For A$49.80 less, the only reason to pick the A5 today is if fan noise matters more to you than anything else.

The A9 Max opened at A$2,251.65 when we added it on 26 August, went to A$2,399 on 5 September and stayed there 21 days. A$2,119.20 is its lowest in the 30 days we have. That is a short history, so we would not call it a floor. It is still a Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 with Radeon 890M graphics, 32GB of DDR5, a 2TB drive and Wi-Fi 7, and it tops our rankings with a 4.4-star rating from 457 owners. If you were going to spend the thick end of two and a half grand on a mini PC anyway, today is cheaper than any day we have recorded.

Two you might hold off on

The Minisforum UM890 Pro is at A$1,519.99, the highest of its 85 observed days, and has been since 11 September. It was A$1,399.99 for a week in July. The GMKtec K8 Plus is at A$1,256.55, but it sat at A$1,054.99 for 10 days from 26 August. Neither is a bad machine. Neither is at a good price right now, and both have already shown they go lower.

The GMKtec NucBox M8 is A$518.69, down from A$549.99 on 29 September. Six-core Ryzen 5 PRO 6650H, USB4, OCuLink, two 2.5GbE ports and a 4.6-star rating from 205 owners. The trade-off is 16GB of soldered RAM and a 512GB drive. We have only eight days of prices on it, so we cannot tell you whether this is a real low or just a normal wobble.
